Daddy's Home

Directed by Sean Anders, Daddy’s Home is a comedy family movie. The movie is about a man named Brad whose character is played by Will Ferrell trying to make his place in the family of a divorced woman Sara Whitaker with two little kids Megan and Dylan.

The movie takes a hilarious turn when Sara’s ex-husband Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) visits them to see his kids and he appears cooler and more macho as compared to Brad. Brad tries everything in his power to gain the trust and love of these kids but ends up embarrassing himself in the weirdest ways possible. Even though Sara keeps telling Brad that he does not need to do that but he obviously feels threatened by Dusty who rides a heavy bike. Brad takes Dusty to his office and his boss starts liking Dusty and asks him to be the voice of their radio channel. Dylan gets bullied at his school and comes and shares this with his family. Brad advices him to talk it out but Dusty advices him to fight back which shows us that Brad is the kind of a person who has trouble speaking up for himself but this also shows an aggressive side to Dusty which is exactly the reason why Sara left him. All of these incidents take place in the most hilarious and entertaining ways. Brad, to surprise the kids also buys a pony for them which shocks Sara. He then gets them tickets to a Dylan’s favorite basketball team match, where finds his old friend in the management and gets better seats for Sara and the kids. Brad gets drunk and starts acting out to a point where he is forcefully removed from the audience. Dusty tries to impress the kids further and builds a skating ring in the backyard, as soon as Brad sees that he goes and tries to skate in to ring just to show the kids that he is cooler but ends up hurting himself.

Later on in the movie Dusty realizes that he actually is not as good a dad as Brad because he does not have the patience level to wait in line to pick up the kids from school while “staying inside the cones” and perform other minor duties. Things take a heartfelt turn when Megan is expecting her dad to show up at school dance and Brad is the one who brings him while is sitting and drinking at a bar, Brad says “I’d pay a million dollars to take her to that dance” which shows how much he actually loves her stepdaughter and how desperately he wants her approval. These emotions of Brad, Dusty also sees and they become friends and the whole “who is the better dad?” war comes to an end as they dance it off at the daddy-daughter school where Dylan also patches things up with the bullies who, as it turns out are actually girls. This ends the movie on a good note and shows that one does not have to be a better parent in comparison and all works out in peace and harmony. There is a special guest star appearance of John Cena at the end of the movie leaving the audience in fits of laughter.
