John Constantine (Keanu Reeves) has attempted suicide previously and died for a few minutes before coming back to life miraculously, he's got a one-way ticket to Satan's realm unless he can earn enough goodwill to climb God's stairway to heaven. After seeing the supernatural entities with his eyes and realizing the myths and legends are real, he chose the task of hunting demons and sending them back to hell as a priest. It is a DC vertigo based Hellblazer Comics where john constantine is a demon hunter who chose to serve God in order to win heaven and avoid eternity in hell.

As a detective Angela Dodson (Rachel Weisz) approached constantine for help investigate her twin sister’s death, He began to realize that somewhere the balance in realms is not right and demons are passing through with or without the help of someone. Gabriel (Tilda Swinton) turned out to be a snitch and chose the satan’s side in order to rebel against the God and in punishment, God plucks her wings and sends her to earth as a mortal.

The film is a great supernatural comic show which depicts the history  where according to the christian theology Lucifer the fallen Angel rebelled against the God to prove his superiority and God cursed him for disobeying and withdrew his mercy which God bestows upon his children. In this show Gabriel has done the same thing which Lilith did to Adam and Lucifer did to God. Constantine’s character is rude and harsh with the ones he doesn’t like but deep inside he is a good soul which just got darkened by the exorcisms and supernatural demon hunting of different dimensions. He also doesn’t like God and the “little game” of God as he says, But it is the rules which everyone has to abide in order to earn the reward. Here the reward for him is the heaven that he is chasing for a long time by sending sons of Lucifer back to hell.

In almost every hollywood show, the Devil is portrayed as a very positive, intelligent and neutral personality, which is the case here, In the end of the film, Lucifer descends himself to the earth to collect the soul of John and he was so close to taking him to hell when God shows mercy and gives John another life on earth to earn his reward. This film could be way better if they explained the ideas to its core without a hollow story. The Direction, cast and writers did an excellent job and successfully saved this movie from flopping hard. As a fact, Every Keanu Reeves movie has a fan base which will buy the ticket regardless of the content,  But overall for the fantasy/Horror,  supernatural it was a great 2 hour runtime which got Box Office gross 75.5 million$.
While not the epic fans hoped for, Reeve's spiritual journey is still a lot of fun, Recommended.
